Monday Morning Kids Series

Wake up to Monday's at Moir Park! Bring your families and friends on Monday mornings through the summer to enjoy music, dancing and lots of fun! All shows start at 10:30 a.m. and are free and open to the public.

The Zinghoppers

Grab your dancing shoes because you're invited to a fun interactive concert and engaging dance party for the whole family! DJ Kitty or J-Star will be your party host - both are EMMY Award winning children's songwriters and innovative educators with a background in Early Childhood Education, and co-star/co-created the Zinghoppers Show. The party will be rocking with original songs from the Zinghoppers EMMY Award winning TV series (seen on over 100 PBS member stations nationwide), as well as classic kids tunes that will get the young (and the young at heart) singing, dancing, clapping and zinghopping along!

Evening Performance Series

The sounds of summer will echo throughout Normandale Bandshell (unless otherwise noted) with the Twin Cities most sought after musicians and concert bands. Introducing our new Hillside Jazz Series, Jazz fans won't want to miss these premier jazz events on select Tuesdays.

Tuesday, August 5, 2014 - 7 p.m.
Jack Norton and the Mullet River Boys

The Mullet River Boys are musical purveyors of vintage vaudeville, jug band and ragtimey bluegrass music. Led by EMMY Award winning songwriter Jack Norton, the boys have been called, "one of the most entertaining acoustic groups in the Midwest" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the group was named "Artists of the Year" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune in 2000.  This dynamic band - whose stated goal is to literally, "corrupt an audience with pleasure" - features Jack Norton on banjo, ululele and guitar - backed by the Mullet River Boys performing on washboards, kazoos, harmonicas, washtub bass and more.  Performing original songs, gypsy hokum, vaudeville swing and instrumental breakdowns along with barbershop-style vocals sung through vintage megaphones, sight gags and comedy, the boys are highly entertaining

Blockbuster Performance Series

On select Thursdays throughout the summer we will be hosting some of the best entertainment in the Twin Cities as well as food venders to handle your dinner plans. Food vendors will begin serving at 6:30 p.m. The Thursday Blockbusters music begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Blues and Barbeque featuring The C-Notes and The Groove Merchants Featuring Jimmy "Primetime" Smith
Food Vendor: Famous Daves Bar-B-Que 


7:00 PM: The C-Notes: Combining the styles of rock, jazz, fusion and funk, the C-Notes bring a new feel to the old blues style.

8:15 PM: The Groove Merchants Featuring Jimmy "Primetime" Smith: The Groove Merchants were the longtime band behind legendary frontman Big Walter Smith.  After Big Walter passed, Jimmy "Primetime" Smith stepped to the front to carry on the legacy.  With the guitar playing and smooth vocals of Jimmy, the Groove Merchants continue their longtime tradition of great blues shows that impress all audiences.

The Hunger Games - Catching Fire

146min - Rated PG-13: The Hunger Games saga continues in this sequel that finds a revolution brewing as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) take a "Victor's Tour" of the districts, and President Snow (Donald Sutherland) plots their downfall during preparations for the Quarter Quell, which only occurs every 25 years in celebration of the Capitol's victory over the districts. Hoping to put an end to the growing threat of rebellion, President Snow announces that the Quell's tributes will be reaped from the existing pool of victors -- guaranteeing Katniss a place in the arena. Though Katniss vows to keep Peeta safe even if it means sacrificing her own life, her fellow tributes have a different plan.
