Please join us for what has become the true "ringing in" of Independence Day in the Twin Cities: Bloomington's Summer Fete, every year on July 3 at Normandale Lake Park.
This year's fun starts with a carnival, includes two entertainment stages – the Kid's stage and the Main Stage – featuring a great lineup of performers, and as usual, culminates with a fantastic fireworks display just after dusk!
The 84th Street region will kick off with the Kids' Carnival Area at 5 p.m. featuring more inflatable attractions than ever before with a few specialty attractions!
Wristbands: An inflatable-only wristband may be purchased for $15.
Tickets: One ticket may be purchased for $1. Tickets are an alternative to wristbands. All inflatables will require two tickets; other specialty attractions will require more.
The 84th Street Kids' stage, celebrating its seventh big year, will once again feature the best in family entertainment.
5:00 p.m. – Tricia and the TooniesThe Toonies' vision is to create an interactive and entertaining environment where kids and their families share joy, laughter and love. The puppet characters along with Tricia, share life's experiences with big helpings of kindness, encouragement, support and humor! Tricia, Pete and The Toonies share their life-lessons, always encouraging audiences to be helpful, kind and confident, and, of course, to follow their dreams!
7:40 p.m. – ZinghoppersGrab your dancing shoes because you're invited to a fun interactive concert and engaging dance party for the whole family! DJ Kitty or J-Star will be your party host - both are EMMY Award winning children's songwriters and innovative educators with a background in Early Childhood Education, and co-star/co-created the Zinghoppers Show. The party will be rocking with original songs from the Zinghoppers EMMY Award winning TV series (seen on over 100 PBS member stations nationwide), as well as classic kids tunes that will get the young (and the young at heart) singing, dancing, clapping and zinghopping along!
Music on the American Legion Post 550 Stage
The main stage at the Bandshell is headlined by the biannual favorite, the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra.
5:00 p.m. – Jonah and the WhalesJonah and the Whales guarantees to bring the party each and every performance with non-stop rock, techno, pop, top-40 and classic hits. With more music than they can possibly play in a night, they will surely have the tunes to make you get up and dance! This band takes audience participation to a new level. You havenʼt lived until youʼve experienced the Jonah and The Whales cowbell choir!
8:40 p.m. – Bloomington Symphony OrchestraAs one of Summer Fete's traditional performers, the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra performance has always been a great way to cap off an evening of celebration and fun. Comprised of some of the best local talent, the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra will perform great classical tunes.
Fireworks!
Topping off the evening is the annual Summer Fete fireworks display. It starts around dusk – shortly after 10 p.m.
The pyrotechnics this year promise to continue to be one of the best in the state. Bloomington's fireworks displays are one of the few to feature 10-inch shells.
The Fireworks display is visible from all around the event site. Look towards the Hyland Lake Ski Jump to see the aerial display launched from Chalet Road.
